Northwest Suburbs SUSTAIN

Kevin Clark, a long time social activist met the founder of national SUSTAIN and was inspired to create a local chapter in his home town of Chicago.  Drawing support from the local Amnesty International group, local churches and temples he founded the group. Several teach ins on Palestine and numerous peace vigils and protests have brought many other supporters to the group.

National SUSTAIN

SUSTAIN was founded in October 2000 as a means to address the issue of US aid to Israel and its role in Palestinian oppression.  SUSTAIN quickly built a coalition with the growing progressive movement in the US, drawing parallels with the struggle against apartheid in South Africa.

Based initially in Washington DC the organization quickly expanded to other US cities.  Numerous teach-ins and protest actions helped spread the word and raise awareness.
